Proven partnership, fresh opportunities

To meet the high market demand in terms of quantity while also offering such variety to customers, an expansion of production capacities was necessary. Sarantis and Rotzinger have maintained a strong partnership for many years, and our filling and capping machines have been reliably in use at their sites for a long time. The requirements for the new line, which is intended to process 12 different products from the Carroten portfolio, were ambitious for the following reasons:

  • Varied bottle sizes and shapes: The varied shapes and sizes of the products, which contribute to differentiation and aesthetics on the sales shelf, require highly flexible solutions in the packaging process, especially regarding the unscrambling, handling, and transportation of the bottles.

  • Varied product characteristics:The products to be filled by Sarantis vary in their liquidity/viscosity. For this reason, our experts conducted extensive filling trials to develop the best possible filling parameters and technology.

  • Varied types of closures and caps: On one hand, the formats differ in the type of closure (screw cap and snap-on cap), and on the other hand, the products are applied using different methods (spraying or simple pressing).

  • Machine operation: Frequent format changes and cleaning processes: Many different formats mean frequent switching between production batches. Therefore, this process should be quick and user-friendly. Additionally, product residues must be efficiently removed.

The result: A state-of-the art turnkey packaging line

The modular approach of our filling and capping platforms allows for the assembly of standardized modules to deliver a solution perfectly tailored to the requirements in the end. In this case, the extensive in-house filling trials of our experts resulted in a space-saving monobloc solution featuring a FLK filling module and two VRM capping modules.

Filling is carried out by means of piston dosing with a suction valve. The special diaphragm valve design offers the best conditions for hygienic filling. It is also suitable for a wide range of product properties. In order to avoid product loss, for example due to dripping at the filling needle or overfoaming in the case of foamy products, filling can be carried out with both top and bottom level filling. The filling curve can also be adapted to the respective product properties as required. To ensure the correct amount of product is filled into each container, the line features integrated checkweighing.

Advancements for a convenient and hygienic production

To achieve repeatable and validated cleaning results, Sarantis opted for our Clean-in-Place (CIP) Plus solution. This includes functions such as cleaning the product paths, cleaning the buffer tank via spray heads, cleaning the pump chamber and position backspace, as well as additional cleaning of the filling nozzle from the outside.

We congratulate our partner on the expansion and look forward to this and more collaborative projects.
